Thinking about India in New Mexico

So I've been living in New Mexico a little over one year now and I work for a small engineering company here. All three of us who are planning this trip actually know each other from going to college in Pittsburgh, PA. I ended up here for work, Neal in Korea, and Hemant in California.

Honestly, I am not too sure how much of a personal satisfaction I am getting from my current job. Engineering is great and there are always new challenges and exciting work, but I feel like I am really missing that human factor. I don't know, I dream about a lot of different things from humanitarian work to international diplomacy - I will have to keep my mind open, but for now I just want to travel as much as I can and just learn about everything.

Choosing India as our destination came about pretty randomly. First of all, I have never been there. And honestly, that could of been enough to justify me wanting to go. But also, just the fact that a country with the world's largest population with a whole list of different languages and cultures can exist peacefully with a good degree of social harmony, however one may define it, is incredibly fascinating.

Can't say I know any more than some menu items I learned from Indian restaurants I've been to in college, but hopefully I will be somewhat less ignorant by the time December comes around. Anyways, more to come later -

Inaugural Posting

Journey to the West is one of the seminal works of Chinese literature and is, interestingly enough, about a monk going to India to learn about Buddhism... among other things. So my friends and I are planning a trip to India. I'll be arriving from South Korea, and the other two guys will be arriving from America. This blog is a place for us to throw out some facts about India that we learn, maybe some videos, and put together plans for our trip. If you do stumble across this, hope it's interesting to you!
